Job summary
Our Anaesthetics Theatres Team has an exciting opportunity for a Band 5 Anaesthetic Practitioner / ODP. We are looking for a highly enthusiastic, committed, and dynamic individual with Anaesthetic skills who can provide optimum quality of care to patients, offering support to the multi-professional team. The successful candidate is expected to have good communication skills and be an excellent team player to support the team in achieving high standards of patient care within theatres at all times. In return we offer comprehensive training in all aspects of our service. In addition, we have a dedicated team of Theatre Clinical Educators who will support and guide you through the excellent range of opportunities that UHCW NHS Trust has to offer.
Please note that the interview date is targeted to be conducted on 15th May, subject to availability and volume.
Successful applicants will be required to provide an immunisation and vaccination report, from either their current UK occupational health provider or their UK GP.
Main duties of the job
- Assess, plan, implement, monitor, and evaluate the peri-operative care of patients using specialist knowledge and skills.
- Acknowledge personal preferences, rights and choice of patients undergoing surgery.
- Maintain health, safety, and the control of infection in clinical work areas in line with Trust policies and procedures.
- Store, prepare and administer prescribed drugs to patients, and monitor the effects of drugs on patients in line with Trust policies.
- Prepare, monitor, and maintain materials and equipment for clinical procedures, take action if found to be faulty.
- Support, monitor and care for patients during clinical procedures.
- Contribute to treating patients during clinical emergencies.
- Receive, transfer and position patients for clinical procedures.
- Maintain accurate & legible records of care.

- Demonstrate budgetary control, ordering and supplying materials required within agreed budgets.
